How Did I Get Here?
Having large amounts of debt is not something anyone wants to
take on. Most people don't even know how they got into the
situation that they are in. These people may find a solution
somewhere along the way to their debt problems, but unless they
understand how they got here in the first place they are doomed
to repeat the error.
For some people is simply a matter of losing a job and then not
being able to pay back their credit card bills. For others it is
some form of a medical illness that got them where they are now.
However, for some, it is just a matter of overspending. They saw
something that they wanted, and they bought it. End of story.
For these people it is very important that they get themselves
on a debt consolidation plan or some kind of management system
so that they do not repeat the error. The first thing they have
to do is look at their bills, add them up, and come up with a
figure that they need to pay everything off. They then need to
go to their bank and get a debt consolidation, so that they have
one easily managed monthly bill. This bill will be lower because
the interest rate is lower, and it is spread out over a longer
period of time.
Then they have to create a budget for themselves. They have to
look at how much money they actually have coming in each month,
and how much money they have going out each month, in order to
know what they can actually afford to spend. Without a budget
they will continue overspending because they don't really
understand how much money they have.
They then need to work on paying off their debt consolidation
loan and sticking to that budget, and the next thing you know,
you will be out of debt.
