Bogus Counseling

Unfortunately there is one in every batch. Just when the economy is at an all time low and people are struggling to pay their bills, there are people out there looking to prey on them and take what little money they have left.

There are debt consolidation, credit counseling and credit card consolidation companies out there that are not what they represent themselves to be. They are taking advantage of those that don’t know any better and go to them for help. Instead of getting help, they are getting further into debt.

If you do not know first hand how good one of these debt consolidation, etc. companies are, be very careful about giving them any money. Some will offer to make your payments for you, and you simply give them the money. Many of these offers are scams and they will simply take your money and not pay anyone.

When handling any kind of payment arrangement, use a reputable company to help you set up the program and then you make the payments to them yourself. Be sure to keep on time with your payments for if you are late, the whole deal can be reneged on by your creditors.
