Debt Elimination
Many of these debt elimination places are trying to sell you a
bill of goods. They want you to think that you can go through
their company and walk away with little to no debt when they are
finished. All you have to do is pay them for their services.
Now, there are some of these companies that are actually good at
what they do, but they might be able to get part of your debt
eliminated, but they are not going to get all of it wiped out
without a bankruptcy. This is why you are going to want to
consider a debt consolidation with a reputable agency and not a
debt elimination with a fly by night company.
Many of these companies will charge an up front fee to eliminate
your debt, and then you end up out the money that you paid them
and you still owe the same amount of debt. But debt negotiation
programs are very different from a basic debt consolidation or
counseling program. The debt consolidation program will put all
of your debt into one payment that has a lower interest rate so
that you can save money. A credit counseling company will steer
you in the direction that you need to go in so that you can get
your debt under control. Often they will help you with creating
a budget, etc. to get that debt under control.
But a debt consolidation and a negotiation are two very
different things. They are going to make things difficult for
you credit wise if they are not done correctly. You need to go
with a company that has a good reputation and one that you will
know will be able to help you. There are some settlement
companies that will help you, but as a rule, they will still
harm your credit.
