Credit counseling services
If
you are in the situation where you find it nearly
impossible to become debt free for getting in a better
debt situation, there are services that use skilled
experts that can help you with your abilities to dig
your way out of your cumbersome debt. DO not be one of
those people who let their debt snowball because you are
scared to seek help and talk to a professional about
reducing and or fixing your debt. Believe it when we
tell you that credit counseling agencies have seen it
all twice! They are there to help you, not judge you.
Recognizing warning signs
It
is likely that you, like many others, have failed to
notice early warning signs that you are getting into
debt trouble. Being able to comprehend everyday finances
is not a required part of what you were even taught in
high school after all. You may have even had a job when
you were in your high school years. You may have
received help from your parents when it came to getting
a checking account and had to prepare your taxes. While
your parents were helpful in possibly showing you the
basics on balancing your checkbook and your taxes, it in
no real way prepared you for more complex financial
facts such as revolving credit lines and such.
If
you attended college, you got a bit more education
regarding finances, but unless you were majoring in
finance, you didn’t get all the details you will even
learn on this site.
After college, finances inescapably became way more
complex for you. Getting a professional job and starting
your career meant you would have to but work clothing
which may have lead you to open a department store
credit card with a crappy interest rate that revolves
each month. In order to land a god job, you had to
acquire reliable transportation and that most likely
ended in you getting a car loan. In this day and age,
jobs come with additional opportunities such as stock
options and retirement programs (401k) – this takes some
ability on your part to make some important decisions
about your long term life in the beginning of your very
first job for the most part. Then you more than likely
bought a house and gained a mortgage. This loan doesn’t
include the debt you probably when into to furnish the
place either. There you have it - your debt’s
beginnings.
If
only
The
optimal plan in life would be for everyone who has any
debt to seek counseling for it. Yeah right. While there
are hardly any people out there that do this –
especially the ones reading this debt free article, a
few do. But not everyone is going to be a financial whiz
or a financial analyst after college or when they enter
the real world outside of Mom and Dad’s house. It is our
only hope here at Debtfree24.com that you are reading
this debt free article not because you are having
financial issues, but because you are interested in
learning how to stay away from financial problems. If
you are, that’s great. Learning about how people get
into debt trouble is a sure fire way to ensure that you
personally do not.
But
the simple nature of the concept of counseling carries
an after the fact connotation. After all, most people
seek counseling (whatever it is for) to help repair
issues in their lives that are taking place already. If
only we were required to take a class on how to not get
into debt problems before we could get a line of credit!
Many couples who want to marry in their church have to
sit in on marriage classes – why not do the same for
credit? Credit card companies would lose too much money
probably! We are not trying to be cynical, it is just
that if people were required to take preemptive debt
problem steps before getting credit in the first place,
they would more than likely be more responsible for
their actions when it came to spending money.
Be
sure to be on the lookout for debt trouble symptoms. If
you do, you won’t have to deal with debt collectors, you
won’t have to max your credit cards by taking out cash
advances on them (you know the interest alone will get
you every time). Keeping an eye on the trouble symptoms
and keeping them at bay is not really just something you
need to do when in debt – you do it before you are in
debt!
There are many people in debt that just cannot come to
terms with the fact that they need help. They scrape by,
with one of two results. They either get a break, a
better job, help from their family, or an inheritance or
something along these lines - or they become so bogged
down in their debt that they lose everything. If they do
get bogged down, they are usually in crisis mode before
they get any help – many times it is too late.
The
person who gets a lucky break will often times find
themselves headed back into more debt if they do
not learn their lesson the first time. Because they were
basically bailed out before, they may not take the
situation and the fact that they tend to have debt
issues under serious care. It is not often that a person
will all of the sudden change their spending habits
without some sort of recourse that has to happen first
and this is a shame.
If
you see any signs of debt problems in your life, seek
professional help. Often times, your community, church
or other organizations host free debt clinics or debt
counseling services.
