Using credit cards the correct way

An Introduction to credit cards

Credit cards are not the root of all that is evil when it comes to living a debt free life or at least a low debt lifestyle. Credit cards can be used to your advantage and not put you at risk fro debt. But, you must be disciplined because, as you already know, general credit cards such as Discover, Visa and MasterCard permit users to charge anything from essential unplanned expenses to items that may not be necessary at all when charged on a credit card.

Having a credit card or two can be useful. But you must be able to use them with total discipline. You need to make sure that your credit cards work for you not against you. Never become the person who lets credit cards take their hard earned money in interest. Think about all of your credit card purchases before you make them and you may be surprised when you realize that you may not need many of these purchases after all.

Think of it this way, if you cannot afford to pay off all of your credit card balances right now, you have too much credit card debt. Do not let credit cards become too much burden on you financially. If you have sleepless nights or arguments with loved ones over credit card bills, you have too much credit card debt – it is as simple as that. Either learn to use your credit cards to your advantage or do not use them at all.

Many people use credit cards because they want to take advantage of a great sale (so they think anyway) to save money. Many times, these are the people who end up paying more on the credit card interest than the item was worth in the first place. You would be better off waiting until you have the cash to pay fro the item at regular price. It always pays to think twice before you use your credit cards fro things that are not absolutely necessary at the time. If not, you better be paying the balance each month or you will never become debt free.
