There are a ton of them out there, and you could be overwhelmed trying to figure out which one is for you. Debt consolidation and management companies seem like they are a dime a dozen but there are some that are actually worth their salt. You want to be sure to choose one that is, or you will find yourself in a worse situation than you are right now.
 
You need to check their rates. Many debt consolidation and management companies charge you a fee for assisting you. However, there are also those that don’t. You should look into both and decide which one is going to give you the best end result. If you can’t afford to pay someone to help you then you have already made that decision.
 
For those that charge a fee, see if you can get them to reduce it. With so many of them out there now, it should be easy to get them to pay a bit less than what they are charging for your help. If they say no, keep looking around because you might find that they might not be willing to help you but someone else might be.
 
A good debt consolidation or management company will also give you a lot of information to look at. They will tell you how to get out of debt, and more importantly, how to stay out of debt. They will show you how to get your credit score back up, and how to create a budget so that you can see where your money goes each and every month.
 
You can also get a company with flexible rates, so they are in a better position to help you. Maybe you pay a certain amount now, but then as time goes on you pay a little less because you have been a steady customer.
