Choosing the
Debt Consolidation Company
You have to be careful who you go with for your debt
consolidation loan. You don’t want to hand over your personal
and financial information to just anyone – you have to make sure
that they are reputable and licensed so that they don’t end up
ripping you off. There are many debt consolidation companies out
there, but they are not all honest kinds of companies. There are
those that are simply looking to take what little money you have
left – and you have to be prepared for them.
The debt consolidation business is a tricky one. There are
people who work just the debt consolidation side of it and then
there are others who also do debt management, settlement, etc.
If you are looking for a debt consolidation company, first ask
around. See if your friends or neighbors have used one and if so
what did they think about it. Then go to the Better Business
Bureau and look them up. See if they have had any complaints or
compliments for that matter.
Then you can look those companies up on the web. A good rule of
thumb is to see if they have a web page. If they don’t in this
day and age, that is a red flag. Type in the name of the company
and the words complaints and compliments – people on the web are
way to ready to tell everyone their business and that includes
what their experiences are with the companies that the use. Then
interview them. See what they think they can do for you, and
find out what their fees are. If they want money up front for
not doing anything, walk away!
