Be Careful
It goes without saying that you have to be careful no matter who
you go with for your debt consolidation needs. There are some
companies out there that are truly looking to rip you off. They
want nothing more than to see you lose what little money you
have left, and so they take it. They take your personal
information and your financial information and they sell it or
use it to their financial gain. But how do you know which ones
are the good ones, and which ones are simply looking to take
your money?
Before you give you information to anyone, ask around and see if
any of your family or friends have heard of them. If they have,
ask what their experience was with them. If this does not pan
out, turn to the Better Business Bureau and run a check on the
company. You will be able to see if they have had any complaints
filed against them, how they were resolved, etc.
You need to go to the internet and type in “complaints” and
“compliments” by the debt consolidation company’s name. People
on the internet are all too willing to share their experiences
with debt consolidation companies and you can often find out
more on there than you can anywhere else as to what the company
is really like.
You then need to look into the company itself. See what their
mission statement is, their history, and reputation. Ask for
references, and interview them to see how they sound. If they
sound on the up and up and everything is pointing in that
direction, then you might want to consider hiring them.
