Quick Fix is Never Good
Any company that is out there, whether they are debt consolidation,
negotiation, settlement, etc. that is promising you a “quick fix” for
your debt issues is one to be avoided at all costs. Even if you choose
to declare bankruptcy it takes months of getting together paperwork,
meeting with a judge, and deciding who is in a position of declaring and
who has to pay back their bills. This is a process that goes on for
months and stays on your credit for years.
People are understandably worried about their prospects in this economy,
and as things get worse for many of them, they turn to various debt
companies that promise them assistance, and many can deliver on that
promise. But just as many, if not more, of them cannot.
These quick fixes that are being promised more often than not turn out
to be absolute nightmares for their clients, with some ending up in more
debt than they were when they started. The Better Business Bureau says
that people are being conned into giving people their money for
something quite often they can do themselves. There is one company that
they are really worried about and it is Credit Solutions of America.
This company has more than 1,600 customer complaints to the BBB stating
that the company told them to stop paying their bills and that they
would get them debt free. However, they say that they did not get debt
free, nor did they get any of their personal debt reduced. Instead they
ended up with more debt from the experience and their credit report was
adversely affected by the advice. They say that even in the case where
some companies can actually help with a debt settlement and negotiation
that negatively impacts your credit and will be there for seven years.
They simply want people to be more careful in the way they handle their
debt and who they get to help them with it.
