Debt Consolidation Might Not Help
There are times when a debt consolidation can be very helpful
and then there are times when it won’t be at all. If you have a
lot of credit out there and are trying to figure out how to pay
it off, a debt consolidation might be the answer – or not.
First you need to add up all of the debt that you have. Once you
have that number you know how much you owe overall. Then you
need to add up how much you are paying out each month. Then look
at debt consolidation loans. If you can find one that has a
lower monthly payment for the amount that you owe, you should
get it. This will save you money each month, and it will reduce
the amount of debt that you are paying. This means that you can
be debt free much faster than you would have been otherwise.
But, if you look at the debt consolidation and your payment is
the same or more than what you have been paying, or the amount
that you get is still more than you can pay – getting a debt
consolidation is not going to help you. You might want to look
into a debt settlement instead, as it will actually eliminate
part of your debt. You can also look into a debt consolidation
with a settlement as many find that helpful as well. A
bankruptcy could be considered as well, but you should try all
other options before you turn to that to solved your problems.
