Better Business
Bureau’s Latest Warning
The Better Business Bureau is trying to warn consumers about
debt consolidation and settlement firms that may not be looking
out for your best interest. There are many debt consolidation
and settlement companies out there that are looking to make a
quick buck – unfortunately at your expense. These debt
consolidation companies have already taken several people for
their hard earned money and the BBB does not want to see this
happen again.
They say that these debt consolidation and settlement companies
go under the premise that they will get you a debt consolidation
loan or they will settle your debts for up to 60% off of what
you owe, etc. However, you then sign with them and they have you
pay a fee up front for the assistance only to have them
disappear with your money or not do what they said that they
would do.
They say that there are a lot of these companies out there like
The Consumer Law Group that have gotten numerous complaints
about them and that they are not doing what they say they will
for you and your credit. The BBB wants you to thoroughly vet any
company that says that they will reduce your debt or even help
you with your debt before you give them any of your personal
information. Even if they are just looking to take money from
you that is dangerous enough, but there are some looking to
steal your identity as well. They urge you to take caution when
dealing with these companies.
