Knowing How
Much You Have is Half the Battle
Too many people depend on what their bank balance says on their
online banking to know how much money they actually have to
spend. When asked, you should always know exactly how much money
you have in your account, so that you are never shortchanged or
write checks that you cannot pay. The problem is that in our era
of ATMs and online banking that everything is electronic which
does not always make for good money management.
The first thing you need to do for yourself, before you do
anything else is figure out how much money you have each month.
Once you add up all income from all sources, you know that you
have x amount of dollars that can be spent each month. Then you
have to add up all of your bills, and that is the amount of
expenses that you have each month. Subtract one from the other
and that is the amount of money that you have left over each
month to play with. In some cases you might find out that you
don’t have any money left over, and in many you will find that
it is not nearly as much as you thought it was.
Put yourself on a budget and figure out how much money you have
to spend each month. Look at all the categories and figure out
where you might be able to save money each month. If you have a
lot of credit card bills that you are paying on you are going to
want to look at ways of cutting down the amount that you are
spending. You can always look into a debt consolidation loan
which will free up some of your money by taking it away from the
high interest credit cards that are out there. A debt
consolidation will give you a lower interest rate, thus saving
you money.
