Collection Business Should be Booming
You would think that with so many people having problems with their cash
flow these days that the collection business would be in peak season.
These collectors come after everyone and their grandmother, so you
assume that they couldn’t possibly make any more money than they are
making right now. However, it seems that although there is a call for
their services, the collection business is harder than ever.
With people not having the money to pay their bills, it isn’t the normal
people just not paying – it is more those people who truly do not have
the ability to pay. They are going after them for their money, but they
cannot pay – no matter how much they harass them.
Instead, they have many people turning to debt consolidation to try and
pay off their bills, but they are not paying off the agencies
themselves. Many of these companies say that although debt
consolidations have gone up, the number of people paying those accounts
that are already in collections has gone down. It would appear that
those accounts that are not yet in collections but perhaps they are
having problems are going the debt consolidation route, while those in
collection already are just letting them go.
Many of these people that are already in trouble are looking to file
bankruptcy instead, or they are looking for a settlement deal. They are
not interested in getting into a argument over the phone with a
collections representative, they are simply just not paying them.
