Debt
Consolidation is Only Part of the Cure
For those that have gotten themselves into a bind with the
amount of debt that they owe, they are not alone. They are
actually among millions of Americans who have spent more
than they can afford to on their credit cards and now they
owe more than they can pay.
Many have turned to debt consolidation companies to help
them come up with a plan to pay back the debt, but for many
this won’t be enough. There are plenty of people who have
paid back their money, or are in a debt consolidation
program who find themselves spending more money.
These people take their money and enter a debt consolidation
program where they set up a plan to get themselves back on
track. But the debt consolidation is only addressing the
part of the problem of the debt. The spending still is not
being addressed and thus more people will spend money they
don’t have.
For some it is a comfort to spend money, for some it is
simply competition with the neighbors. No matter what their
reason, getting into a debt consolidation program will only
fix the part of the problem that involves the actual money
you have spent. Many need therapy to deal with their issues
of over spending as well.
Some find that working with a therapist in addition to
paying back your bills will get you the ultimate goal – to
be debt free. But just paying back some money and then
spending more will only get you further and further into
debt.
