A shocking number (over 50%) of small businesses are relatively unconcerned about data security and protecting consumers’ personal information, and they believe their consumers are unconcerned as well. Visa and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to educate these small businesses on the importance of protecting consumer information. The majority of small business owners were more concerned with shoplifting and physical theft than their data security measures.
Visa and the Chamber of Commerce are educating these businesses through a tour that started in June. Visa is not the only large business concerned with educating small businesses. Earlier this year the Better Business Bureau also started a campaign educating small businesses on information security. ■
