Student Loan Debt Can be Consolidated

It is possible to get your student loans to a more manageable size – and much of it has to do with a student loan debt consolidation. A student loan debt consolidation is simply taking your student loans from all of their various sources and putting them into one easy payment. This student loan debt consolidation is not the same as a traditional debt consolidation however, as you have rights and privileges awarded to you under it that you don’t normally get.

All student loans have the ability to go into deferment if you are attending school, they have financial hardship forbearances if you have the need, etc. There are ways of postponing payments, and even eliminating partial payments for volunteer work, etc. a student loan debt consolidation gives you those same rights – as long as you get one that is specifically for student loans. If you get one that is only a debt consolidation you will not get the same rights.

It is important that you are clear with your lender that you get one that is specifically for student loans, or you will end up losing out on benefits that you may need later on in your life. Let’s face it, most student loans aren’t paid off in a short period of time. If you get one that is not for student loans, and you go back to school, you will have to keep paying on those loans.

A student loan debt consolidation will also get you a lower monthly payment than you have been paying, which helps when you are fresh out of school. It consolidates all of your loans into one payment with a fixed amount of time to pay them back in and barring any unforeseen circumstances like loss of job you will pay it back in no time flat.
