Debt Relief Programs
There are many options for debt relief and each one has its
positives and negatives as to why you might want to go that
route. You have to look at your debt situation and decide which
one is right for you. It could be debt consolidation or
reduction, or really a host of things. All you have to do is
look at each option and decide which one is best for your
situation. Some of these programs you have to go with a company
to help you out – while others will allow you to do it on your
own.
First up we have debt consolidation. This can be used alone or
with a debt reduction program. You simply take the bills that
you have and you put them all into one debt consolidation loan.
This gives you a lower monthly payment as it is spread out over
a set period of time, and it gives you a lower interest rate so
you end up paying back less.
Then there is a debt reduction. You work with your creditors, or
a company does it on your behalf. You work out a deal where you
pay less than what you owe them. You can either pay it outright
or you can get a debt consolidation for the amounts that you now
owe on each of your cards and pay it back that way.
Then there is bankruptcy. This is where you wipe out all of your
debts leaving you with no debt at all. This should be used in
only dire circumstances where you do not have the ability to
pay, nor are you going to in the near future. This stays on your
credit for several years, so it really should be used only if
you have no other option.
