Debt Consolidation Scams

As if it weren’t enough that there are people everywhere losing their homes, their cars, their jobs, there are another group of scumbags out there that are looking to take what little they have left. They are called debt consolidation scam artists, and Huntsville Officials are trying to warn their residents about the problem.

The entire country is facing some seriously difficult times, but there are some people out there who don’t know what their rights are or when they are being ripped off. The Better Business Bureau of North Alabama is trying to sound the alarm to let people know that there are many people out there right now looking to take advantage of those that may not know better.

Debt consolidation companies have been flooding the industry as of late, and not all of them are decent companies – some are just looking to take your money and run. With Americans holding some $2.6 trillion in debt, there is a lot of money out there to be taken care of.

The biggest alarm out there is in regards to those companies who are looking to help you get a debt consolidation and they say that they have handled everything, all you have to do is send them your monthly payment and they will take care of it. This is a big warning sign. Any reputable company will have you pay the debt consolidation loan company directly – not pay them so that they can then pay someone else. In these cases, they are usually simply pocketing the money and leaving you to pick up the pieces.
