Ways to Find Help
In this economy it is no surprise to hear people who are suffering
financially. It seems everyone you know has either lost their job or knows
someone who has. This is compiled with the fact that most people normally
live paycheck to paycheck anyway, and when you take away those paychecks, as
many have seen happen lately, you have created a whole mass of people who
have no way of making their bills.
These people are also overextended usually with credit, which means now they
have no way of making any money, nor paying their bills. The best thing you
can do when you find yourself in this situation is to go speak with a credit
counselor to see if they can help you get a handle on your debt. They can
suggest debt consolidation loans, etc. to get you back on the way to being
debt free.
However, with so many scam artists out there, how do you know who is good to
trust and who is not? Credit counseling groups are a dime a dozen, and it
seems that every time you turn around there is someone waiting to help you
out. However, many of them are just looking to help you out of whatever
money you have left.
The federal government says that there are many good places out there to get
help, and that you can go to www.ftc.gov/bcp to get assistance with finding
someone who can help you get debt free. The National Foundation for Credit
Counseling is working with the Federal Trade Commission to weed out those
that are not working in your best interests.
