 | | | | | | | Debt Free 24 - News Updates: January 2007 Archives | | Debt Free News Continued from... Dealings with debt arise in the news (part 3) January 14, 2007 What we have also discerned from this debt free economy report is that on top of a poorly planned structure regarding students and debt from financial aid (or lack there of). New college graduates are applying for debt consolidation loans straight out of the gates it seems. Some economists are saying in their report that due to students becoming more debt educated (too late) that they talk about debt more. While most students are candid in their revelations in the report, they are not necessarily candid with each other. In fact, the debt report states that the new stigma that comes with high debt, spills over on campus. Students that need to be candid are not. The simple lack of comprehensive financial education regarding credit card debt, and school loan debt decreases many students’ abilities with self confidence. What is compelling about this statistical finding is that a campus is where students should feel free to learn something new – not be self conscious about it. Many of our debt free news article readers reading this report will be upset to know that there is a whole new generation of massive debt from student loans on the horizon. Yes, it effects even our readers who are doing well with their own personal debt because our future economy relies on stability to be successful and with so many students graduating with massive debt – the future can be a bit shaky – not to mention all of the underprivileged students dropping out with a lack of financial aid – possibly creating more bad debt and higher consumer bad debt. If you are a consumer who has had past difficulties getting your adult finances under control, imaging how hard it is fro students who are just stepping out into the real world with all this debt without necessarily knowing how to eliminate it properly. Let’s hope they read this debt free site. Pro education advocates are also reporting that the government really needs to step in and take an active roll in educating college students about debt from loans before they get out into the real world. Some economists state that students should be required to take a class in finances directly regarding their personal debt from student loans and credit card debt from school expenses – not just a finance class that is broad in its coverage of world finance. If you ask our debt free news department – we say this class should be mandatory but free of cost (no debt that is). Again, why are we faced with these issues now that there are more candidates seeking higher education than ever before? What's more, why isn't the government on top of this? Now, many of you may be thinking that not only have you had to start reading about how to get a debt consolidation loan or even perhaps other ways fro you to get your finances under control, but you may also be worried about what financial debt issues this new generation of record breaking debt related graduates will leave behind.
