How To Reduce Your Debt
There are a couple of ways that you can look to get rid of some
of your debt. There are programs that are specifically designed
to make paying your bills back a little easier – and to get you
on the road to being debt free. The first thing you have to do
is stop spending on your cards. You can tally up what is owed on
them and this is the amount you need to pay off. Get a debt
consolidation for that amount and that will get you a lower
interest rate and a lower monthly payment.
Then while you are paying off your debt consolidation, you need
to create a budget. Look at the amount you get each month and
take out all of your monthly bills, including the debt
consolidation. This is the amount that you have left over each
month. This amount should be put into a savings account, or you
can use it to pay down your debt consolidation loan even faster.
Then you need to destroy your credit cards. Keeping them around
is only temptation to use them, so get rid of them now. Some
people say that they freeze them – but I know people who have
zapped theirs in the microwave lickety-split for a shoe sale. If
you don’t have them you won’t be tempted to use them.
Once you have paid off your debt consolidation, you will find
that you have a lot of money left over and have gotten rid of a
large portion of your debt. This enables you to start a
retirement and savings fund – which is something everyone should
have no matter who you are or what you think your financial
future will hold.
