Attorney
General Worried About Consumers
The Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock is worried about
residents who might see debt consolidation ads and end up a
victim of a scam. The problem is that there are many debt
consolidation companies out there right now that are preying on
those that might not know any better and might not be able to
discern between someone helping them and someone who is just
taking their money. There are tons of great companies that will
help you with a debt consolidation, but there are some that
simply want to take you for all that they can.
These are the people that the AG is worried that his residents
might get caught up with. He says that there is a lot of fraud
that is aimed right at seniors who might not know any better and
he wanted to warn them and show them how they might protect
themselves. He said that Montanans are actually older and more
trusting than most of your average Americans, which is what
makes them the perfect target for these kinds of scams.
He said that these debt consolidation scams prey on their
trusting nature, and on the fact that they are embarrassed to be
in this position in the first place. He said that there is a lot
of shame that comes from needing a debt consolidation solution,
and that these scam artists know this and take advantage of it.
He said that he was thinking about getting seniors together with
other seniors so that they could discuss debt and the options
that are out there for them.
He talks about the fact that his own grandfather was a victim of
the debt consolidation scammers out there and he doesn’t want to
see anyone else fall prey to them.
