If You Have Credit Card Debt Get Rid of It
In most cases anyone with credit card debt should be looking for ways of
getting rid of it. If they have the ability to pay it off in one fell
swoop then by all means they should do so. The amount of interest that
you are paying is by far much higher than anything you will be getting
from putting money in a savings or checking account.
If you do not have the means to pay it off, then you should be looking
for a debt consolidation to pay it off or perhaps another credit card
that you can transfer it to that has a lower interest rate. Through the
use of debt consolidation or low interest credit cards you can save
yourself hundreds, maybe even thousands on the amount that you would
have paid had you left it with a high APR.
A debt consolidation is almost always lower than the APR on the card
that you are currently using, and by using such a high interest card you
are paying much more for whatever you bought on it than you would have
if you had not used that card. If you have a 0% APR card that you can
transfer it to, you should do so, as long as there is either a very
small transfer fee or no fee at all.
Most credit cards carry an APR of 14% or more according to a recent
study, and most debt consolidation loans are holding at between 8% and
10% which is a significant savings to you at the end of the day. Try to
think of it in terms of paying for your money. If you have a high
interest rate then you are paying more for them to loan you money, which
means whatever you have borrowed is going to cost you exponentially more
than if you had a lower rate.
