Be Very Careful
The age old idea is good advice – if it sounds too good to be true, then
it probably is. There are a lot of debt relief services out there today
who are promising the world, but very few of them can deliver on
everything they promise, if they can deliver on any of it at all. There
are claims of them being able to get you debt free in less than a year,
or being able to slash it in half, or in some cases telling you that you
won’t have to pay anything at all.
However, most of these companies are not reputable places, for anyone
who is knows that it is just not that simple when it comes to debt
relief. In fact, some of these companies actually make it worse for the
consumer – so much in fact that they would have been better off not
going to them in the first place.
Some of the debt relief companies are not only making it worse for you,
but are looking to profit off of your misfortune by totally ripping you
off. There are some debt consolidation companies out there that are on
the up and up, but in many cases this is just not the case. Not all of
them are crooks, but more often than not they are.
Some you will have to pay, and some you won’t. If you are going through
one that sounds good but is charging for their services, then you have
to make sure that they are a good company and that they are not going to
charge you all of the money up front. They should be looking at perhaps
a small set up fee and then a small monthly fee, but anything more than
around $25 a month is too much and you will want to look elsewhere.
