Holiday consumer spenders look for easy experiences shopping
December 19, 2006
If a retail outlet wants to get the attention of shoppers
this Holiday Season they need to make purchases and
returns simple.
In fact, most consumers this shopping season are not
depending on the TV ads and paper inserts in their mailboxes
and news papers that land on their driveways each morning
they are looking for shopping ease and convenience. We have
already seen this fact ring true in online shopping
successes.
Many consumers do not even want to be bothered with coupons
they would rather get satisfaction from their purchases do
to easy return policies and if you are a store that
provides an easy solution you are in like Flynn.
Shoppers count the ease of being able to actually find the
item they want ton the store shelves to be a high priority
as well. Any store wanting their business has to have a well
supplied store indeed. Consumers are not falling for
advertisements that have no item availability just to get
them in the door anymore according to a poll released today.
A study that was conducted this week shows that this years
holiday shoppers are no nonsense and looking for complete
availability and returns with ease.
The new consumer survey spoke to one thousand holiday
shoppers about their shopping needs. The report found that a
whopping 81% of them stated they actually patronized retail
stores that carried their desired products in stock and
they were and only if they were in stock. Another
overwhelming 75% of these shoppers said an easy return
policy was another decision maker in their shopping.
After all who wants complications during this bust time of
the year? Not any debt free diehard. We want ease and
simplicity when we head out to spend out hard earned money.
Our nerves to not need to be tested by return item
complications and out of stock items.
The people have spoken and according to this test consumer
poll, shoppers will turn to the Internet for shopping before
they will reduce themselves to the hassle of long lines, no
parking spots only to find the item they are looking for is
out of stock. Many consumers also expressed the need for
their gifts to be returnable should the recipient need to do
so. According to the poll, shoppers are not looking to
re-gift non-returnable items they want to eliminate that
all together so d we!
Believe it or not, these shoppers also said they would pay
more for these conveniences too. Price was not the number
one priority in this consumer poll.
Also worth mentioning is that consumers were overwhelmingly
unsupportive to enclosed shopping malls due to long waits
for parking and lack of security.
