Getting Rid of Late
and Over Limit Fees
When you take out a basic debt consolidation loan you agree to
pay back everything that has been charged to your credit cards.
If this means that you were late with your bill payments or you
went over the allotted amount that they have set as your limit –
you are agreeing to pay whatever fees they have charged you
along the way. However, you don’t have to. You can fight to get
those fees taken off – one way or the other.
You can either do it yourself or hire someone to help you. You
simply call your creditors and say that you are in a position to
pay off part or all of your debt to them, however, you would
like to discuss the fees that have been placed on your account.
Tell them you would like to pay what you owe as far as interest
and principal but you do not want to pay the other fees. Many
times they will take all or at least part of those fees off for
you as they really do want to get money from someone who has not
been paying.
However, if you are not getting anywhere, or do not want to have
to make these calls yourself – then you can call a debt
consolidation company and have them make those calls for you.
Once you have done that, you will find that things get much
easier for you. You will still have to pay back what you owe,
but they will work hard to have those extra amounts removed so
that you pay back less than what you owe.
