Unsecured Debt
Consolidation
Depending on your credit, an unsecured debt consolidation loan
might just be out of your league. If you have poor credit, it is
going to be very difficult to get anyone to give you a loan
without some kind of collateral. A secured debt consolidation is
probably in your future, but it can be a bad move for someone
who is not sure they will be able to pay it back.
Quite often someone gets in over their head, they start missing
payments, they turn to debt consolidation to get a handle on
their debts as they think they can pay it back at a lower rate
and a lower payment each month. However, they go to the bank to
get an unsecured loan – for this is what their credit cards are
– only to find that the bank won’t touch them because of their
credit history. So they look to a secured loan, but what if they
miss those payments again? There goes your collateral.
Right now you have credit cards that you are not paying back –
or are not paying back on time. If they choose to they can take
you to court and get a judgment against you for the amount,
which you will have to pay back if you have the money later on.
But what if you have gotten a secured debt consolidation for
those loans and you used your house as collateral? If you don’t
pay – they will take your home, or your car, or whatever it is
you used to pay back your debt. Just think carefully before you
make any false moves that you might be sorry for later.
