There Are Many
Options
You have debt – so you need to know how to get rid of it. You
have several options open to you, and depending on the type of
debt that you have, and the amount of debt that you have – as
well as your ability to pay back that debt – will determine what
solution is right for you. Debt consolidation, settlement,
management, etc. are all ways of paying back your debts or in
some cases a portion thereof – and of course bankruptcy will
wipe them out depending on which one you go for.
A debt consolidation will simply take the amount of money that
you currently owe and consolidate it into one monthly payment.
The debt consolidation will be at a lower interest rate than
what you have been paying, and you will pay back your debts over
the course of three to five years.
A debt settlement is simply the act of speaking with your
creditors, getting them to reduce the amount that you owe them,
and paying back what is agreed upon. This can be used in
conjunction with a debt consolidation if you have more than one
card, or don’t have the money to pay them back.
A debt management program simply assists you in getting to the
heart of the problem, working out a debt solution for you, and
planning out how you might pay back the money that you owe your
creditors.
Of course then there is bankruptcy. Chapter 7 bankruptcy will
wipe out all of your debts, and Chapter 13 will reduce them and
spread them out over a period of time so that they can be paid
back at a rate that you can afford.
